Tour a las Islas Flotantes de los Uros y Taquile en el Lago Titicaca – Día Completo
DESCRIPTION:
The Uros Floating Islands and Taquile Tour is one of the most comprehensive excursions to experience Lake Titicaca. During a day of sailing, you will discover the famous totora reed islands of the Uros and the natural beauty of Taquile, an island renowned for its stunning panoramic views, ancestral traditions, and world-famous textile art passed down from generation to generation.
On this tour, we pick up passengers from hotels in downtown Puno and take them to the port, where we board our comfortable motorboat; our guide (Spanish/English) will take us to visit the Uros floating islands before arriving at Taquile. We will reach Taquile Island at 11:00 AM and stay for approximately 3 hours to enjoy its culture, dances, hiking, textile demonstrations, and lunch while overlooking the beauty of Lake Titicaca. At this same location, we will learn more about the inhabitants and textiles of this island, which has been declared a UNESCO “Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
With this tour, you will walk an average of 2.5 kilometers in total, avoiding the 500-step climb that is often very tiring; this allows you to focus solely on enjoying the trip with a step-free walk.
The Textiles of Taquile
The men of Taquile have the custom of knitting their own Chullos (traditional hats), which indicate their marital status. For example, it is easy to distinguish a single man (white/red chullo) from a married man (red chullo). Similarly, single women wear larger and more colorful pom-poms than married women.
You can also board the boat from your accommodation on the Uros Floating Islands and end the tour in the Uros in the afternoon.
